Khrystyna Dmytrenko Won First Medal for Ukraine at 2017 Winter EYOF

17 years old biatlete Khrystyna Dmytrenko opened medal score for Team Ukraine at XIII Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Erzurum, Turkey, winning silver medal in women’s sprint race.

Khrystyna, who has been a pursuit gold medalist at 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, missed one target at standing shooting and lost 21,5 sec to Camille Bened from France.

Khrystyna, who joined national team in summer 2016, said, ‘I am so happy to win the medal. The race was tough indeed. I made an unnecessary missed – the emotions and nerves was the reason. But the support from many people all the way along the route was so amazing. Thanks my coaches and all those people who supported me in Ukraine. I would never do this without their help’.

Sergey Bubka. Ukraine National Olympic President sent his greetings to Khrystyna, team coaches and national biathlon federation’s President Volodymyr Brynzak wishing them to continue their successful performance in Erzurum.
