Anastasiia Gozhva Adds Silver Medal to Ukraine’s Medal Tally at 2017 EYOF

Anastasiia Gozhva, from Ukraine, won silver medal in ladies’ figure skating competition at 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival in Erzurum, Turkey. 15-years’ old scored 127,18 points after short and free programs winning second medal for Team Ukraine at the event, after Khrystyna Dmytrenko’s silver medal in biathlon sprint race.

Anastasiia said she was happy to make it to the podium however being unsatisfied with her performance. The young athlete said, ‘I made some mistakes in the elements I’ve done perfectly in practice. I suppose emotions overwhelmed me, but it is possible also that acclimatization and high altitude was one of the reasons. I am happy about the medal, but I have to work a lot more’.

Sergey Bubka, Ukraine’s NOC President and IOC Executive Board Member, congratulated young athlete, her coach Maryna Amirkhanova and Ukraine’s figure skating federation wishing the sport to continue its successful traditions.
