UNESCO approved Sergey Bubka as Goodwill Ambassador for another two years

This decision was taken by the Directorate of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

As a reminder, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, a member of the International Olympic Committee, Olympic champion Sergey Bubka is UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in the field of sports, serving as a UNESCO Champion for Sport since 2003.

"I am happy to further contribute to strengthening of peace and safety through sports activities by expanding cooperation between peoples in the field of education, science and culture. I am sure that it is sport and the Olympic ideals that are a powerful mechanism for the further life improvement and society development," said Sergey Bubka.

Among his activities aimed at building a better world through sport, the UNESCO Ambassador gives priority to the promotion of sports and physical activity for the formation of healthy nation; support and conduct of educational and publishing activities on Olympic education and science; creation and preservation of the Olympic heritage; gender equality issues and more.

They reflect UNESCO's concern for raising the importance of physical culture and sports in order to build a better future for the younger generation.
