In St. Petersburg the Electric Marathon 2013 will start on October 26. The Marathon was supported by the Vice-President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), Member of the IOC Executive Board, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Sergey Bubka.
Race route will lie across 11 countries and 35 cities in Europe, which generally amount to 3,800 kilometers. This tradition initiated n 1930 and was restored in 2011.
The initiator of electric vehicles rally is double Olympic medallist, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Estonia, Head of the NOC of Ukraine Presidents Office Mr. Juri Tamm.
Marathon finish is scheduled for November 6 in Monte Carlo. The awarding ceremony will take place in the square in front of the palace of the Prince of Monaco. Sergey Bubka set up a special prize - a unique bronze cup, which symbolizes strength of electric power that moves the cars. By the way, on this day, November 6, Electric Marathon 2013 opens the 7th edition of the Peace and Sport International Forum.
"Every citizen of the world is responsible for the health of our planet and, above all, must think about how to minimize the impact of our activities on the environment" Sergey Bubka says. "This marathon contains valuable things of our lives - the environment, energy, innovation, sports, the ability to communicate and strengthen relations between the countries, cities, NGOs and young people from different countries. That's why this event is supported by the organization "Peace and Sport", which main goal is to promote the ideals of peace. Only together we can make our world safer, cleaner and better."
