 «The 2013 year was successful for the Ukrainian Sport»

Sergey Bubka the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine stated at the 28th General Assembly of the NOC.

“Despite of the number “13” this year was successful for the Ukrainian Sport. The Ukrainian athletes had won 21 medals at the World Championships and 51 medals at the European Championships. The young Ukrainian athletes pleased us with 17 medals they had won at the European Youth Olympic Festivals that was held in Brasov and Utrecht” told the famous athlete of the country. Also the year was successful for the National Olympic Committee. Within the frame work of the prestigious Award of creative Sport the NOC of Ukraine was determined the best Olympic Committee of the world for promotion of sport and Olympic values. “Such high recognition indicates the correctly chosen vector of activity and affective work towards the development of the Olympic movement” Sergey Bubka said. During the year the NOC implemented a number of important and unique projects. The Olympic Day and Olympic week which gathered 900,000 participants all over the country; all Ukrainian Olympic lesson that attracted over 2,5 million people; the Olympic stork, a multi-sport event for schoolchildren of 5th-6th grades of all schools of the country; the events Olympic book and Olympic lesson within the frame work of which more than 19,000 schools and 230,000 classes of the country received Olympic literature and sports equipment; honouring the laureates and awarding the best athletes and coaches of the month and the All Ukrainian ceremony – the Heroes of the Sport Year; the celebration of the Centenary of Olympic Kyiv - these and many other activities were designed to promote Olympic values and healthy life style. Thanks to active marketing activities, sponsors and partners support the National Olympic Committee fully complied with all claimed programs. “In 2013 the NOC allocated about 7.5 million Hryvnas as a suppor to the Olympic sport federations. Moreover in order to improve the professional skills of coaches, judges and experts we have financed the organization of the national seminars as well as participation of the Ukrainian experts in the international forums totally for 1 200 000 Hryvnas. Another 800,000 Hryvnas were spent by the NOC for scientific support” Sergey Bubka reported. As the president noticed the strategic direction of the NOC of Ukraine remains the development of the Olympic movement in regions. “We are providing support to our regional branches, having allocated them financial and material assistance for the sum of more than 4 million Hryvnas”. Analyzing the activities of the NOC Sergey Bubka said: “We really have something to show our foreign colleagues, we have a valuable and unique Olympic experience that is interesting to other countries and Olympic committees. The striking evidence of which is a conclusion of the agreements with the NOC of China, NOC of Qatar, NOC of Indonesia and also international partners – UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Russian International Olympic University”. According to Sergey Bubka it is very important for sport to take an appropriate place in the country’s life and to be widely covered by mass media. “Due to cooperation with mass media, introducing its own Olympic television projects, publication of our magazine “Olympic arena”, expanding the range of information partners, promoting Olympic groups in the social networks, we strive for our country knows their sports heroes and for as much as possible people join the Olympic movement” Sergey Bubka said. The president of the NOC noted that the new 2014 Olympic year will bring new tests and bright victories.
