Sergey Bubka, IOC Executive Board member and Ukraine NOC President, has been selected as a member of the IOC’s ‘Sustainability and Legacy’ Working Group – a part of the Olympic Agenda 2020.
IOC President Thomas Bach today announced membership of the 14 Working Groups which will prepare key recommendations for the future of the Olympic Movement.
Each group will consist of key stakeholders in the Olympic Movement, including IOC Members, athletes and representatives from International Federations and National Olympic Committees. As part of the ongoing open and inclusive process, the experts will propose new ideas and initiatives which are to be discussed at the Olympic Summit, presented to the IOC Executive Board and approved by the IOC Extraordinary Session on December 8-9th, 2014.
Discussions will center on five themes: the uniqueness of the Olympic Games, athletes at the heart of the Olympic Movement, Olympism in action, the IOC’s role and IOC structure and organization.
Sergey Bubka commented on this news saying: “I am happy to have a chance to contribute to the development of sport and Olympic Movement, sharing my own vision and experience. Life continues to develop. It is fundamentally important to move forward and improve. I’m sure that the Working Groups will produce great ideas and new initiatives.”
