Ukraine has officially confirmed its participation at the inaugural 2015 European Games

Sergey Bubka, Ukraine National Olympic Committee President, has signed the formal confirmation letter of the Ukraine team’s participation for the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, in June 2015. A letter signed in attendance of the great number of local media is addressed for EOC President Mr Patrick Hickey.

Bubka commented for the media after the signing, saying 'Ukraine is an integral part of the European Olympic family. We are proud of our sport traditions and happy to be involved into the inaugural multisport event in Baku next June. I hope Ukrainian athletes will perform great at the European Games as well as they do at the Olympics bringing glory to their country.

European Games is a new multisport quadrennial event established at the 41st European Olympic Committees General Assembly in December 8, 2012. More than 6 000 athletes representing 49 European NOCs are expected to participate at the inaugural Games in Azerbaijan capital competing in 19 sports (archery, aquatics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, beach football, boxing, canoeing, cycling, fencing, gymnastics (including aerobics and acrobatics with non-Olympic status), judo, karate, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball, wrestling).

The selection for the 2015 European Games in under way now. 34 athletes from Ukraine have already met Games' entry standards in their sports. 6 or them in artistic gymnastics, 4 in trampoline, 6 in aerobics, 6 in male freestyle wrestling, 6 in female wrestling, 6 in Greco-Roman wrestling).
