Sergey Bubka: ‘We address the accommodation problems of the athletes and coaches from the Eastern Ukraine in Kyiv’

Ukraine National Olympic Committee has taken care of the elite athletes and coaches from the Eastern regions of the country addressing their urgent needs including accommodation in Kyiv.

Sergey Bubka informed that Ukraine NOC coordinated the division of responsibilities between the Committee, the Sport and Youth Ministry of Ukraine and the national federations to provide the appropriate conditions for the athletes, coaches and their families.

Bubka, who is a President of the Ukraine NOC, as well as IOC EB member and IAAF Vice President, said, ‘NOC takes care of the elite group of athletes from various Olympic national teams. In cooperation with each federation the list of athletes from troublesome regions is made. The list now includes 33 athletes’ names as well as their coaches and family members. We approach personally to every athlete addressing his needs and deciding on the best possible option. The list of options includes the targeted financial support, purchase of the necessary equipment, etc’.

Sergey Bubka also stressed that Ukraine NOC budgeted UAH 100 000 (over $8 000) monthly to pay rent for the accommodation of the athletes and coaches in Kyiv.
