REPORT from the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine on the Olympic Day Run 2003 According to decision of the Executive Committee of the NOC of Ukraine (Resolution # 16 dated 24 April 2003), regional divisions of the NOC of Ukraine in close cooperation with local sports organizations held the Olympic Day Run on 23 June 2003 or during the days close to this date. The Olympic Day Run in 2003 was traditional festival of sport and physical culture in which wide sections of the population took part.
Preparation of athletes to the Olympic Games needs much money and the trip for Ukrainian funs can cost just 1 hryvna On the 10th of July at the traditional press-conference of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sport (SCPCS) and the NOC of Ukraine there were discussed the matters related to the preparation of Ukrainian athletes for the Olympic Games, preparation of the capital of the Games 2004 itself and opportunity to visit the motherland of the Olympic Games, the capital of Greece Athens by tourists and guests from Ukraine. The Head of SCPCS and Vice-President of he NOC of Ukraine Mr. Mykhola Kostenko told the audience about the situation with the preparation of our athletes for the Games of XXVIII Olympiad in Athens 2004.
Third international scientific students' conference On 22-24 May Third international scientific students' conference "Student, science and sport in XXI century" is being held on the basis of National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine in Kyiv. The conference is organized by Ukrainian State Committee on matters of Physical Culture and Sports, National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Olympic Academy of Ukraine, National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine and Borys SHAHLIN International Charity Fund "Development of Olympic reserves".
TV sport channel "Eurosport-Ukraine" is opened On 30th of April in the press-centre of "Ukrainian house" it was held the press-conference devoted to the opening of first specialized sport TV channel "Eurosport-Ukraine" and "Eurosport" weekly in Ukraine. TV channel General Producer Vladyslav DASHKEYEV, General Director of TRC "Slaviya" Ivan RUDNYZKIY, "Eurosport" weekly newspaper Manager Victor SHULZ, NOC of Ukraine Secretary General Volodymyr GERASHCHENKO, First Deputy of Head of Ukrainian State Committee on matters of physical culture and sports Andriy VLASKOV took part in press-conference.
The NOC of Ukraine President met Larysa LATYNINA On the 23rd of April the NOC of Ukraine President Ivan FEDORENKO met Larysa LATYNINA - the legend of Ukrainian and world sport who won 9 Olympic Gold medals. The famous gymnast came to Kyiv to participate in Ukrainian action - "Ukrainian Star", where Larysa LATYNINA won the nomination "The star of Ukrainian sports". The Head of Ukrainian State Committee on matters of physical culture and sports Mariya BULATOVA, Head Deputy Myroslaw DUTCHAK, the NOC of Ukraine Secretary General Volodymyr GERASHCHENKO and Secretary General of Ukrainian gymnastics federation Margarita ANUFRIENKO were also present at the meeting. Ivan FEDORENKO welcomed honorary guest: "The sport friends in Ukraine remember Your great achievements and those traditions of gymnastics that were formed by Your generation are still alive. It was proved once more on the European championship in Greece.
The NOC of Ukraine Secretary General met Special Olympics Coordinator for Europe On the 22nd of April the NOC of Ukraine Secretary General Volodymyr GERASHCHENKO met Special Olympics Coordinator for Europe Miroslaw KROGULEK and Special Olympics in Ukraine President Kostyantyn SLYNYAVCHUK. Special Olympics is international charitable organization that contributes to the development of physical culture and sports for individuals with mental retardation and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
The NOC of Ukraine President met the Head Representative of "Samsung Electronics" On the 12th of April the NOC of Ukraine President Ivan FEDORENKO met the Head Representative of "Samsung Electronics" in Ukraine JEI CHAN YON. The company closely cooperates with the NOC of Ukraine and acts as official sponsor of Ukrainian Olympic Team.
The Expended Meeting of NOC of Ukraine Executive Committee The expended meeting of NOC of Ukraine Executive Committee was held on the 2nd of April. The NOC member, the Head of sport, youth and tourism sector of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Mykola KOSTENKO, the chief consultant on humanitarian problems of the President of Ukraine Administration Viktor RUDENKO, the chief of high sport achievements department of the Ukrainian State Committee on matters of physical culture and sport, the NOC member Nina UMANETS, the NOC member, the head of the medico-biological maintenance Commission Vyacheslav POPOV, the principle of State Scientific Institute of NUPESU Kostyantyn SACHOVSKIY, chiefs of winter sports federations of Ukraine, heads of physical culture and sport communities, representatives of mass media who were on the Olympic Games in Salt-Lake took part in the meeting. The main problems of discussion were results of participation of Ukrainian delegation on the XIX Winter Olympic Games 2002 in Salt-Lake.
The meeting of sports administration with the representatives from "Lufthansa" company On the 5th of April there was the meeting of Mariya BULATOVA, the Head of Ukrainian State Committee for Sport and the Member of the NOC of Ukraine Executive Board, Ivan FEDORENKO, the President of the NOC of Ukraine, Volodymyr GERASHCHENKO, the Secretary General of the NOC of Ukraine with Antonio ÑUOÑO, General representative from "Lufthansa" and Raymond WESTMAYER, the Editor-in-Chief of "Lufthansa Seat" newspaper held at the Ukrainian State Committee for Sport. #?-:nbsp; On behalf of the State Committee for Sport, the NOC of Ukraine and all Ukrainian athletes Mariya BULATOVA expressed her sincere thanks to "Lufthansa" that has been a safe partner for a long time and closely cooperates with the abovementioned organizations. In particular, "Lufthansa" provided the transportation of Ukrainian delegation to the Games of XXVII Olympiad 2000 in Sydney as well as to the Salt-Lake 2002 XIX Winter Olympic Games.
