Legendary athlete fulfilled his honorable mission for the eighth time At six o’clock in the morning today (PST) in the small Canadian town of Mission, British Columbia, located 5-10 km from the border with the U.S., the president of the National Olympic Committee, legendary Ukrainian athlete, Sergey Bubka, took part in the XXI Olympic Winter Games torch relay. In spite of the early hour, a crowd, among them many Ukrainians, gathered to greet the outstanding Ukrainian athlete and Ukraine’s chief Olympian with national flags.
The Ukrainian Olympic team for Vancouver-2010: 6 sportsmen more on the list The International Ski Federation has officially informed the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine on the quota extension for the Ukrainian Olympic team at Vancouver-2010. According to the FIS´s announcement made on Tuesday, January 26, 6 sportsmen have been added to the list of the Ukrainian delegation: 4 cross-country skiers (Roman Leybyuk, Lada Nesterenko, Oleksandr Putsko and Tetyana Zavaliy) and 2 snowboarders (Yosyp Penyak and Annamari Chundak).
41 athletes to represent Ukraine in XXI Winter Olympics in Vancouver On January, 21 the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has approved the list of the country’s national squad for participation in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games that will take place in Vancouver, Canada from 12th to 28th of February. As the President of the NOC of Ukraine announced on Thursday (Jan, 21) at the press conference in Kyiv, the Ukrainian national team at the Vancouver 2010 Games will comprise of 41 athletes who will compete in 8 out of 15 sports.

The Honorary title the People’s Ambassador of Ukraine and the corresponding Order were awarded to the repeated world champion and the Olympic pole vaulting champion by the All-Ukrainian Fund of International communication encouragement «Ukrainian People's Embassy» («Ukrayinske Narodne Posolstvo»).
Iryna Merleni – Ukraine’s Young Ambassador for the 1st Youth Olympic Games On December 4, 2009 the name of Ukraine’s Young Ambassador for the 1st Youth Olympic Games that will take place in Singapore in August, 2010 was made public. According to the results of the national voting carried out by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and its General Information Partner «Gala-radio», the honor to represent our country at the Games was awarded to the prominent wrestler, the 2004 Olympic champion in Athens and the 2008 silver medalist in Beijing Iryna Merleni.
