It is rather more than a year left to the start of the XXIX Olympic Games Beijing 2008. To date 34 Ukrainian athletes have already qualified for the most prestigious event of the four-year period.

The problems that need an urgent solution and the ways of ensuring an effective training of the Ukrainian athletes for the 2008 Games were the main items on the agenda of the NOC of Ukraine Executive Board meeting held yesterday.
The NOC of Ukraine President Sergey Bubka informed the participants on the main events that have been recently held. One of the most important of them is the Board of Experts On Preparation of the Ukrainian Athletes for the Beijing Games, established by the NOC together with the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sports. The main objectives of the newly-fledged body are planning and monitoring the athletes’ preparation process, organization of the effective cooperation between scientists and coaches.
Sergey Bubka also informed on the results of his meetings with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Ukraine Mr. Zhou Li and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Arseniy Yatseniuk concerning the Ukrainian official delegation stay at the Beijing Olympic Games and facilitation of the visa issuing process for the Ukrainian delegation, etc.
The Ukrainian Olympic House will welcome hospitably the foreign Olympic guests in the capital of the 2008 Olympic Games. Now under support of the “Ukreksimbank” – the official partner of the NOC of Ukraine – there is a reconstruction of one of the buildings of the Ukraine Embassy in Beijing which will be a grand building for honouring the Olympic champions and prize winners, for official receptions and athletes’ communication with mass media.
At present the NOC of Ukraine is working at provision of the Ukrainian delegation with sports and civilian wear. The main supplier of sports wear including competition wear for the most sports of Ukrainian Olympic team is the NIKE. The agreement of cooperation will be concluded between the NOC of Ukraine and the NIKE in the nearest future.
The NOC of Ukraine has in good time seen to extra officials and tourists having booked accommodation and tickets to competitions for them.
The Executive Board members pointed out to the need of improvement of the anti doping activities and qualification of the national TV commentators.
In the beginning of August the NOC of Ukraine delegation is going once again to visit Beijing and meet with the BOCOG representatives.
