At the meeting of the Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Sergey Bubka, President of the NOC signed the official IOC invitation to participate in the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in 2016 in the Brazilian Rio de Janeiro. The signature of the chief Olympian of the country confirms participation of the Ukrainian National Team in the major event of the four-year period.

The meeting of the Executive Board was also attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ihor Zhdanov.

Currently the Olympic qualification process is still going on, and which will end in early summer next year.

105 Ukrainian athletes representing 17 sports (shooting, weightlifting, diving, synchronized swimming, modern pentathlon, shooting (skeet), boxing, archery, equestrian, cycling, mountain bike, swimming, freestyle wrestling, rowing, canoeing, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, Greco-Roman wrestling) have already qualified for the Games (a list is available on the website of the NOC of Ukraine at the following link: http://noc-ukr.org/olympic/games/rio- 2016 / olimpiyski-licenzii /).

The final composition of the National Team of Ukraine will be approved by the Executive Board of the NOC of Ukraine following the results of the qualification process and the proposals of the national Olympic sport federations in late July 2016.
