100 days to go until the winter Youth Olympic Games - Master class with figure skaters

Today, on November the 4th, on the Kyiv ice-skating rink, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine jointly with the Kyiv branch of the NOC and supported by the Sports and Recreation Complex LLC "Wonderworld Plus" celebrated 100 days until the start of the II winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG), that the Norwegian city Lillehammer will host in February next year.

The pupils of the Kyiv secondary schools had the pleasure to spend time funny and interesting enough with the figure skaters – candidates for the Youth Olympic Team of Ukraine , who will represent our country at the most important competitions of the quadrennial.

The participants of the event were welcomed by Anna Sorokina, the head of the Olympic Movement Department of the NOC of Ukraine and a bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, by Sergey Timofeiev, a representative of the Sports and Recreation Complex LLC "Wonderworld Plus", a member of the Executive Committee of the Kyiv branch of the NOC of Ukraine, and Kateryna Derun, a champion of the I Youth Olympic Games 2010 in athletics and  2012 YOG Young Ambassador.

All those present had the nice opportunity to recall the remarkable performances of the young athletes at the first Youth Olympic Games in 2012 in Innsbruck, where our athletes have won three silver medals in figure skating and short track. The participants also watched a short film about the upcoming Games in Lillehammer, that are waiting for that incredible Olympic festivity.

The real gift for the participants were the demonstration skating of the bronze medalist of the Ukrainian junior championships, winner of the Ukrainian Cup finals, winner of the international competitions in Minsk (Belarus) Ivan Shmuratko, and  the participants of the international series of the junior Grand Prix, the winners of the junior Ukrainian Cup Golubtsova Maria and  Byelobrova Kyryl. Stormy applause that skaters have got from grateful spectators were good stimulus in the fight for the right to represent Ukraine at the Games in Lillehammer.

Moreover all participating pupils had a unique opportunity to try their strength in conquering the skating rink under the guidance of the coach of the children figure skating school "Suite" Vira Volpova, who is also a coach of the multiple winners of the Ukrainian Cup finals.

At the end of the event all young participants received Olympic souvenirs from the NOC of Ukraine and had a joint picture taken.
