Ivan Shmuratko, 14 years old figure skater, won siver medal in mixed team event at the II Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway!
Ivan, the youngest athlete of Team Ukraine at the Games, performed almost perfectly as a part of 'Future' mixed team producing his season's best 89.66 points.
Shmuratko commented after the competition saying, 'I would never believe yesterday if I have been saying I could win a medal at the Youth Olympics. Honestly I still cannot believe I did it. Thanks a lot to my teammates who supported me. They are fantastic'.
Ivan's coach Vira Volpova says she is satisfied with young athlete's performance. 'Ivan made a lot of preparation for the Games, he was also inspired by the team spirit and was eager to help the team. I am happy he has done what he had to'.
Sergey Bubka, Ukraine NOC President, sent his greetins to Ivan Shmuratko and his coach wishing WYOG silver medal to become the first of many successes in his future career.
