Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee nominated biathlete Sergiy Semenov as country’s best athlete in March 2016. Athlete’s father and coach Oleksandr Semenov is named as Best Coach in March.

Semenov won his team's only medal at the 2016 IBU world Championships in Oslo/Holmenkollen, producing fantastic performance in 10 km sprint race to win bronze medal.

Sergiy was part of successful Ukraine men's relay team winning bronze medal at the 2011 IBU World Championships but individually it was career's best achievement for Semenov at the world championships.

Biathlete's bronze medal has also become the best achievement for Ukraine's athletes in Olympic sports in March 2016.

It is second nomination for NOC 'Month's Best Athlete' for Semenov who also won the same award in January 2015.
