Brazil become closer for Ukrainians ahead of Rio 2016

Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee continued the tradition to celebrate the Journalist Day along with media representatives who cover Olympic sports and try their best to promote Olympic movement.

2016 celebration was a Brazil themed party as 2016 Games to be opened in Rio on August 5th are the highlight event for both NOC, the athletes and sports media of the country.

NOC President and pole vault Olympic champion Sergey Bubka, Ukraine's youth and sport minister Ihor Zhdanov attended the celebration accompanied Yana Shemyakina, 2012 gold medalist in epee fencing, and Anna Rizatdinova, #1 Ukraine's rhythmic gymnast. The guests and athletes – who both qualified for 2016 Rio Games – met in Brazilian «Grill do Brasil» steak house in Kyiv.

The guests had a chance to experience unusual for Ukraine rodizio - all-you-can-eat style of restaurant service in Brazilian restaurants. Sergey Bubka and Ihor Zhdanov cooked Brazilian grilled pineapple, while two Olympic star athletes tried themselves in cooking pikanha under the guidance of experience gaucho chefs.

Journalist also used the occasion to talk to President Bubka, minister Zhdanov and two athletes about preparation for soon-to-come Games.

Sergey Bubka addressed to the media saying, 'NOC and Olympic athletes appreciate your enormous contribution to promotion of sport and active lifestyle in the country. I am happy to feel your support and understanding at every moment of Ukraine's sport history. The Committee and Ukraine's Olympic family will continue cooperation with sport media, and hopefully we will have good reasons to celebrate together after Rio Olympics'.
