The Board of Experts of Ukraine NOC has named biathlete Yulia Dzhyma as nation’s ‘Athlete of the Month’ in January 2017.

Ukraine's women team coach Uros Velepec will receive an award a Ukraine's best coach of the month.

The Board's decision was based on athlete's performance at the IBU Open European Championships in Duszniki-Zdroj, Poland, where Yulia won three medals.

Dzhyma started her medal performance in sprint race with clean shooting and fast speed winning her career's first individual gold medal at the European Championships.

She continued with a silver medal in pursuit race, adding bronze medal in mixed relay along with her teammates Anastasiya Merkushyna, Oleksandr Zhyrny and Ruslan Tkalenko.

Dzhima wins her career's first 'Athlete of the Month' award while Mr Velepec was praised in winter 2015 along with his another star athlete Olena Pidhrushna.
