The NOC of Ukraine signed the sponsorship agreement with the Italian firm "Diana" for 2001- 2004, according to which "Diana" becomes sport equipment supplier of NOC for Olympic water sports, namely swimming, synchronized swimming and waterpolo.The NOC of Ukraine President Ivan Fedorenko and Serhiy Bychak - the chairman of the firm "Vitess", an official distributor of "Diadora" in Ukraine, signed the agreement that concerns providing NOC with the sport equipment for Ukrainian teams in Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, judo and boxing.The contract with another Italian firm "Kappa" is being worked up.The NOC of Ukraine hopes, that cooperation with three famous Italian manufacturers will bring mutual benefit and strengthen the positions of NOC of Ukraine during the preparation and participation at the Olympic Games. The NOC of Ukraine delegation consisting of Mr. Ivan Fedorenko - the President of NOC of Ukraine, Mr.

Volodymyr Platonov - the first Vice-President, the rector of National university of physical education and sport (NUPESU), Mr. Volodymyr Gerashchenko - Secretary General, Mrs. Mariya Bulatova - the President of the Olympic academy visited the IOC headquarters in Lausanne. The delegation had the honour to be received by IOC President Mr. Juan Antonio Samaranch. The NOC representatives had meetings in some departments of the IOC. The wide range of actual problems, which are very important for further development of Olympic movement in Ukraine, were discussed during the meetings.

The fruitful cooperation of NUPESU and NOC of Ukraine was highly estimated. Eleven various books devoted to the history and problems of the Olympic sport were published under support of the IOC in 1993-2001 as the result of such productive activity. The IOC President approved the idea to create "Encyclopaedia of Olympic Sports " in five volumes.

The problem of preparation of medical specialists in sport in Ukraine was also discussed. NUPESU is supposed to be a centre of future professionals training. The "Olympic Solidarity" contributed 5,000 USD to hold coaches and sport doctors' conference that took place at the end of May 2001 in Kyiv.

On the 11th of May 2001 the seminar conference of NOCs of CIS and Baltic states concerning the preparation to the forthcoming Olympic Games was held in Tbilisi. The representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Estonia took part in the seminar. The NOC of Ukraine was represented by the Vice-President Yuriy Maslachkov. The NOC of Georgia President Jansough Bagrationi, the head of State Sport Department of Georgia Irakliy Medzmariashvili, the head of CIS Secretariat of ANOC Yuriy Yuryev welcomed the participants of the seminar. Such significant topics as methodological basis of the preparation to the Games of XVIII Olympiad in Athenes in 2004, some aspects of adaptation to the climatic conditions of Athenes were discussed at the meeting.

Vitaliy Semenov - the chief of anti-doping laboratory of Russia, made a report about new tendencies and methods of anti-doping control. Also the methodological basis of the final preparatory stage to XIX Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and delegations cooperation during the Games were pointed out.

The participants of the seminar stated on the necessity of active stimulating by NOCs the national sport federations as for multilateral collaboration in CIS and Baltics region.

The existing range of problems, that NOCs of CIS and Baltics faced, is practically the same. That's why such seminars will contribute to the development of the Olympic sport in each country as the essential experience exchange.

NOC of Ukraine
