On June 21 the whole Ukraine united in the name of strengthening of the Olympic ideals and healthy way of life. Today the day before the IOC foundation the Olympic Day Run is holding traditionally all over the world.

Our country has actively joined to this sports festivity.
The NOC of Ukraine under support of the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sports, the Ukrainian Athletics Federation as well as the MacDonalds Ukrainian Ltd. and its sponsors RODOVID bank, Bonaqua and the FURSHET retail network became an organizer of this event.
In Kyiv the solemnities stated at 10.00 a.m in the recreation park “Hydropark” with a cross-country race the participants of which were the Ministry of the Internal Affairs’ staffers. . The NOC President Serhiy Bubka greeted the participants and wish them to wend their way through life being accompanied by sport.
The main solemnities were held on the Independence Square where thousands of Kyiv residents and guests gathered.
The festivity at the Independence Square started with a symbolic run the participants of which together with children were the NOC President Serhiy Bubka, the Minister for Family, Youth and Sport Yuriy Pavlenko, the Deputy Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Zhuravskyy, general directors of the companies “MacDonalds Ukraine Ltd.” and “Coca Cola Beverage Ukraine” and Olympic champions and medal winners Elbrus Tedeiev, Yuriy Bilinog, Nina Umanets, Svitlana Maziy, Georgiy Leonchuk, Ganna Sorokina and others.
In general there were six heats in the following categories: preschoolers, schoolchildren, students, sports amateurs, sports veterans and disabled persons.
A real present for all participants was a presentation of the official song of the Ukrainian Olympic Team for the XXIX Olympic Games “The Champions” performed by famous Ukrainian singer Vitaliy Kozlovskyy.
At the end of the sport part of the festivities Serhiy Bubka said, “The Olympic Day Run is a true festival of sport that unites people in their strengthening for healthy way of life. Today in spite of the results all participants of our festival could feel themselves as true olympions. They demonstrated that physical culture and sport have to be a standard of life”.
The Olympic Day Run festivities are under way in the regions of Ukraine.
