President of Ukraine congratulates Ukrainian team on successful performance at XXX Olympics in London

The President Viktor Yanukovych congratulated the winners of the XXX Summer Olympics, their coaches and all Ukrainian team on successful performance in London.

In the course of the meeting with Ukrainian athletes at Livadiysky palace in Yalta the President expressed the words of gratitude to them. "I make a bow and express gratitude for your braveness, commitment to sport and Motherland," the President said.

The President highly evaluated the level of Ukrainian athletes: boxers Vasyl Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk, fencer Yana Shemyakina, weightlifter Oleksiy Torokhtiy, women's quad sculls on rowing and canoe rower Yuri Cheban. The President emphasized that those athletes "inscribed their names into the history of world and Ukrainian sport with gold letters".

The Head of State also expressed gratitude to other Ukrainian athletes who achieved high results but didn't win the awards. He said that those athletes are the future of Ukrainian sport and their victories are ahead.

The President presented state awards to 24 Olympic winners who won medals in 20 kinds of competitions.

Head of the National Olympic Committee Sergey Bubka on behalf of the Ukrainian Olympic team expressed gratitude to the President for his support and presented him a symbol of the Olympic Games – torch brought from London.
