Oleg Stepko is one of the top five young European athletes!

Ukrainian gymnast Oleg Stepko was selected to be in the top five most talented young athletes in Europe and the best one will be awarded the EOC Piotr Nurowski Prize.

Each of the 49 European National Olympic Committees could have submitted their candidate for receiving this prize till August 31. The nominee from Ukraine, proposed by the National Olympic Committee, was the winner of two gold and two silver medals in YOG Singapore 2010 in gymnastics - Oleg Stepko. In August 2012, the protégé of Pavlo Netreba came fourth at the Games of XXX Olympiad in men's team competitions.

The athletes who can participate in the hope of winning the Prize must be no older than 19 years old by the end of this year. In addition, not only sport achievements but also athlete's active position in the promotion of the Olympic Movement, popularization of Olympism and the principles of fair play are all taken into account.

The opinion of each National Olympic Committee of the continent was considered when determining the finalists. All the NOCs received the full list of the nominees from the EOC and were entitled to choose their top five.

According to the results, the Executive Board jointly with EOC Athletes' Commission have established five finalists - Charlotte Bonnet (France, swimming), Larisa Iordache (Romania, artistic gymnastics), Ruta Meilutyte (Lithuania, swimming), Marco Schwartz (Austria, alpine skiing) and Oleg Stepko (Ukraine, artistic gymnastics).

The name of the winner will be announced on the 8 of December at the EOC General Assembly. The decision will be determined by the EOC Executive Board, which will be based on the recommendations of the EOC Athletes' Commission.

All the five candidates are invited to the ceremony where the best of them all will be awarded twelve thousands Euro Prize.
