Meeting of Sergey Bubka and UNICEF Representative in Ukraine

The President of the National Olympic Committee Sergey Bubka met with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Ukraine Ms. Yukie Mokuo.

"In my opinion, the NOC mission is to address a much wider range of tasks than ensuring the athletes participation in the Olympic Games. It is important to distract children from dangerous activities on the streets and from the temptations of the virtual world and get them interested in physical culture and sports, healthy lifestyle. Developing community using the multifaceted possibilities of sport is our lever to change thinking and behavior," Sergey Bubka said.

"Our philosophy is formation of healthy and strong nation, upbringing of well-educated and active young people, who will become new Olympic champions. It is sport that teaches best to overcome difficulties, trains will and self-control, teaches to live in accordance with established rules and respect competitors. Thus, we are trying to promote and strive to spread the unique and universal Olympic values in the best possible way," main Olympian of the country emphasized.

The NOC President informed the guests on the numerous projects of the National Olympic Committee, including the all-Ukrainian events for children "Olympic Stork", "Olympic Book" and "Olympic Corner" as well as "Olympic Lesson", which are designed to involve children in sport as much as possible.

Ms. Yukie Mokuo was impressed by the NOC of Ukraine activity. She was presented with a set of Olympic books and a CD with the information on all NOC of Ukraine projects.
