Ukraine worthily presented itself for the world Olympic family

On 10th February the reception on the occasion of the Ukrainian’s Day was held in the Olympic Sochi. More than 200 members of the world Olympic family visited this event.

The president of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, IOC Honorary president Jacques Rogge, the president of the European Olympic Committees Patrick Hickey, IOC members, heads of international sports federations and National Olympic Committees, Olympic champions and prize-winners from all over the world were present there. The large number of guests demonstrates the high prestige of Ukraine on world sports and Olympic arena.

The guests were welcomed by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul, the president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Sergey Bubka, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ravil Safiulin.

"Ukraine is famous for its sports traditions and a large number of Olympic champions and prize-winners. A striking demonstration of this is the fact that the president of NOC of Ukraine is the multiple world champion and Olympic champion Sergey Bubka. I am very pleased that yesterday your team received one more medal. Congratulations for Viţa Semerenko and sports fans from Ukraine. It is good that your country plays an important role in worlds sport"- said Thomas Bach. He also told that he appreciated the Ukraine's wish to host the Winter Olympic Games 2022.

The president of the NOC of Ukraine Sergey Bubka in his welcoming speech said: "Our country has really great sports history and also has 624 Olympic medals considering Vita Semerenko's bronze medal. It is pleasant for us to share the Ukrainian traditions, our unique history and culture. On behalf of the Olympic family of Ukraine I would like to say we are happy to be a part of the world Olympic movement".

"The presentation of our concept of the Olympic bid to the International Olympic Committee, the world media, athletes and fans is one of the most important steps in the history of Ukrainian sport. This is one more major step in the development of Ukrainian society", - said Alexander Vilkul.

Ravil Safiulin told about the importance of sport in the country's development and its impact on the development of a healthy nation.

At the Ukrainian event in Sochi there were presented the examples of Ukrainian art, and to the accompaniment of folk music the guests had the unique opportunity to taste the cookery masterpieces of Ukrainian cuisine, which had a huge demand among the guests.
