The program Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) was presented on the event of the International Olympic Committee Entourage Commission headed by IOC EB Member, Ukrainian NOC President Sergey Bubka.
The main task of IOC Entourage Commission is to provide the creation of the most favorable surroundings for the athletes. The Commission carries on the relations of athletes, coaches, managers, sponsors and others who support the athletes and play an important role in their development.
"MOOCs open the door to the "Ivy League" for the Masses of athletes", - said Sergey Bubka. "It is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web. In addition to traditional course materials such as videos, readings, and problem sets, MOOCs provide interactive user fora that help build a community for students, professors, and teaching assistants (TAs). MOOCs are a recent development in distance education".
In the frames of roundtable the participants also discussed the human qualities that coach should possess. Speakers compared the characteristics of the "teacher-etalon", "teacher-chief", "teacher-psychologist" and "teacher-champion". Every participant had his own point of view, but the views coincided in one - a high-level professional coach should compose different priorities methods.
Sergey Bubka noted the importance of the social responsibility of the coach, because he plays a major role in the education of a fully developed, educated person, who is able to use the cultural heritage of society and self-development.
