The official opening of the photo exhibition “Sports Moments 2007” took place in Kyiv Palace for Youth and Children on 17 December in the presence of the Olympic champions and medal winners, sport veterans and active athletes. The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has organised the photo exhibition for the second time, the first one was held in 2006, to grant all comers the opportunity to get absorbed in the wonderful world of His Majesty Sport.

”Sports Moments 2007” included the brightest episodes of sports fights, inimitable emotions and feelings experienced by Ukrainian athletes.
Among the heroes of this year there are the medal winners of national and international competitions and also future Olympians who make their first steps in sport.

The photos presented at the exhibition were taken by key Ukrainian sport press photographers Mykola Bochok, Pavlo Kubanov, Valeriy Solov’yov, Volodymyr Repik, Mykola Zatovkanyuk, Igor Savchenko and by amateur photographers as well.

”It’s a nice tradition which is worth to be continued”, Sergey Bubka said at the opening of the exhibition. “Every time you look at the picture, you find something new which you have missed before. It is no secret that sometimes only a photoshot can convey the emotions and colours of the unique world of sport”.

Olympic champion in athletics Viktor Tsybulenko expressed the idea to expose the photos not only in Kyiv but in the regions of Ukraine so that much more Ukrainians could enjoy it as sport is the phenomenon full of emotions and impressions.

”The photo exhibition gives us, the athletes, the possibility to experience once again those happy moments we had during competitions”, Olena Kostevych, Olympic champion in shooting, said.

The photo exhibition 2006, “Olympic Moments”, can be called a “photo history” of the performance of Ukrainian athletes at the Olympic Games. This year the exhibition was dedicated to the brightest moments of 2007.

The exhibition is open for all visitors on 18-21 December enabling them to become closer to physical culture and sport and feel themselves a part of sport history of 2007.
