Recently the official opening of the All-Ukrainian Olympic Lesson, which started the Olympic Week, took place in the main square of Ukraine, Independence Square. It’s for the third year that the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry for Family, Youth and Sport of Ukraine implement this unique programme of Olympic lessons held in secondary schools of our country.

This year All-Ukrainian Olympic Lesson is held under the slogan “Join the Olympians” and is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of participation of the Ukrainian athletes in modern Olympic Games.
The Vice Prime-Minister of Ukraine Mr. Dmytro Tabachnyk, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Mr. Sergey Bubka, the Minister of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sport Mr. Viktor Korzh, the Chairman of the Committee of Physical Education and Sport Mr. Viacheslav Gamov, Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv State Administration Mr. Vitaliy Zhuravskyy were honorary guests of the event.
Mr. Dnytro Tabachnyk forwarded the message of the Prime- Minister of Ukraine Mr. Viktor Yanukovych to the participants of the All-Ukrainian Olympic Lesson.
”Sport development is one of the priorities of the state policy. That is why the Government considers these campaigns vitally importants and supports them in every possible way”, the Vice Prime- Minister stressed.
”Today we have a real celebration of unification of all people as the Olympic idea is to live in paece, harmony and welfare irrespective of age, sex and political creed”, Mr. Sergey Bubka pointed out.
Notwithstanding rainy weather a breathtaking action took place in the Independence Square including lighting the flame and flag raising. Spectators warmly welcomed and greeted sports veterans, famous athletes, champions and medal winners of major competitions.
Famous Olympic Champions Borys Shakhlin and Tetyana Kochergina symbolically handed the torch to young Olympic hopes who took the oath.

Thousands of children from different corners of our country had the possibility to communicate with Olympic champions and medal winners, outstanding athletes and coaches who filled the center of Kyiv.
The pupils had the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Olympic Movement, its ideas and principles, to strengthen themselves not only physically but intellectually as well.
Different competitions, trainings, relays and contests were held on special sports grounds with the participation of coaches and famous athletes as well as pupils of sport schools for youth and children. Any person could test his/her strength and abilities in different sports.
This year, for the first time, the pole vault outdoor championship was held during Olympic Lesson which attracted a lot of admirers and fans of this spectacular sport.
”I do hope that in the nearest future Olympic lessons will become an integral part of education process in every school of our country”,
Mr. Bubka summarized.
The Lesson finished but all pupils are waiting for the Olympic champions, European and World Championships medal winners at schools.
During next week outstanding Ukrainian athletes will conduct Olympic lessons all over Ukraine. In particular, the NOC of Ukraine President, Olympic Champion Mr. Sergey Bubka will visit Kyiv secondary school #44 to tell about his way to the sport Olympus.
