About the Games
II Winter YOG 2016 will be held from 12 to 21 February in Lillehammer. For the second time in its history, this city will host Olympics.
Exactly 22 years later, in the 1994th, Lillehammer was the Olympic capital of XVII Winter Games.
1100 athletes from 71 countries aged 15 to 18 will compete for 70 sets of medals in 15 winter traditional disciplines.
Mascot
II Winter Youth Olympic Games Mascot is lynx, who is called Sjogg.
It is named after the main attribute of winter - snow. «Sjogg» means «snow» in the valley Hudbrandsdalen which is located close to Lillehammer.
Lynx is young, playful, friendly and very sporty.
Young Ambassador
The program «Young Ambassadors» is implemented by the International Olympic Committee during the YOG for the fourth time and is focused on the educational and cultural programs.
Ukraine will be presented by Young Ambassador Vera Perederiy – Master of sports of international class, Olympic finalist in Beijing, World Universiade medalist in rhythmic gymnastics.
