Dakar 2026: Ukraine has been allocated 38 places for the Youth Olympic Games

The main phase of quota allocation for the 4th Youth Olympic Games, which will be hosted this autumn by Senegal’s capital, Dakar, has come to an end. Following the allocation of licences, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has been awarded 38 quotas.
Our team currently comprises 11 male athletes and 27 female athletes. It is worth noting that Ukrainian athletes will be competing in 14 of the 25 sports included in the Games’ programme.
Our athletes will compete in athletics (4 representatives), breakdancing (1), swimming (2), cycling (road) (2), badminton (1), artistic gymnastics (2), boxing (2), fencing (1), judo (1), wushu (1), beach wrestling (5), beach rowing (2), futsal (10) and 3x3 basketball (4).
Although the official licence allocation period has ended, the number of Ukrainian representatives at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games may still change. The Games’ Organising Committee has provided for a quota reallocation procedure. Should other National Olympic Committees (NOCs) decline their quotas, these licences may be transferred to Ukraine.
It should be noted that the composition of the national team by sport is still being finalised. The final list of athletes travelling to Senegal will be submitted for consideration and approval by the Executive Committee of the NOC of Ukraine closer to the start of the competition.
As a reminder, the 4th Youth Olympic Games in Dakar will take place from 31 October to 13 November 2026. These Games will be a historic event for world sport, as this will be the first time the African continent has hosted an Olympic event of this scale.
We wish the future young Olympians every success in their preparations for the most important event in their sporting careers!
