Olympic Day kicked off in the Chernihiv region

June 3rd, 2026

On 2 June, events marking All-Ukrainian Olympic Day kicked off at Secondary School No. 19 and Gymnasium No. 29 in Chernihiv, with children from the schools’ summer camps taking part.

The sports day kicked off with an energetic warm-up, which gave the participants a boost of energy, put them in good spirits and filled them with positive emotions. After the warm-up, the children took part in fun relay races, where they had the chance to demonstrate their agility, speed, stamina and ability to work as a team. The atmosphere of the event was filled with joy, support and genuine children’s smiles.

A special feature of the event was that the participants took part in the sporting activities not for the sake of victory or prizes, but for the sake of taking part, being active, socialising and learning about Olympic values. Through sports games and team tasks, the children learnt about friendship, mutual respect, support and fair play. That is why, on this day, it was not the results that mattered most, but positive emotions and a love of sport.

“Olympic Day is a wonderful opportunity to give children the joy of movement and active recreation. We want every child to feel part of the big Olympic family, experience positive emotions and learn the values of friendship, respect and a healthy lifestyle. It is precisely such events that help to raise an active and conscious younger generation,” said Dmytro Pyrihok, Executive Secretary of the Chernihiv Regional Branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

Despite the challenging security situation in the region and the country, opportunities continue to be created in Chernihiv Oblast for children to spend their free time actively, take part in sport and enjoy memorable experiences. Such events not only promote children’s physical development but also help to spread Olympic values and foster a culture of healthy living.
