Olympic Day in Dnipro: how pupils from the Pierre de Coubertin Lyceum saved the Games’ main symbol

June 12th, 2026

As part of the celebrations for International Olympic Day, pupils at the summer camp run by the Pierre de Coubertin Dnipro Lyceum No. 142 took part in an exciting treasure hunt entitled ‘In Search of the Olympic Rings’. The event was organised with the support of the regional branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine to introduce young people to key sporting values in a fun and engaging way.

The game’s plot revolved around the mysterious disappearance of the five symbolic rings from the Olympic flag. To find them and return them to their rightful place, the teams of sixth-formers had to complete a series of challenging tasks. The young adventurers demonstrated their agility in the long jump, their accuracy and quick thinking during an intellectual Olympic quiz, and their creativity in designing themed posters. Teamwork was the key to the quest, as no task could be completed alone.

Mutual assistance and friendly support helped the children successfully complete the mission. All five rings took their place on the flag once again, restoring the symbol of unity and peace to its original form.

As a memento of their participation in this adventure, every student received a commemorative certificate. The finale of the event was the joint proclamation of the modern Olympic motto: ‘Faster, higher, stronger — together!’, which perfectly emphasised the atmosphere of unity and an unbreakable desire for victory.
