Vadym Gutzeit, President of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee, attended the Ukrainian Athletics Championships in Lviv

From 10 to 12 July, the Ukrainian Athletics Championships took place at the ‘Skif’ Stadium in Lviv, bringing together the country’s leading athletes and serving as one of the stages in their preparation for international competitions.
The President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Olympic champion Vadym Guttsait, took part in the opening ceremony, congratulating the participants and wishing them every success.
“Every Ukrainian championship today is yet another testament to the resilience of our nation and the strength of Ukrainian sport. Despite all the challenges posed by the war, our athletes continue to train, compete and achieve outstanding results. It is at events like these that future Olympians are nurtured, who will bring glory to Ukraine on the international stage. I wish all participants a fair contest, new personal bests and resounding victories,” said Vadym Guttsait.
Alongside the President of the NOC of Ukraine, the opening ceremony was attended by Matvii Bidnyi, Minister of Youth and Sport of Ukraine; Valerii Vavryniuk, Acting Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration; Andrii Sadovyi, Mayor of Lviv; Olga Saladukha, President of the Ukrainian Athletics Federation; Oleksandr Krykun, Vice-President of the NOC of Ukraine; Yaroslav Svisch, Rector of the Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture; and representatives of the Lviv region and the sporting community.

Following the three days of competition, not only were the winners and medallists determined, but the names of those who have earned the right to represent the country as part of the Ukrainian national team on the international stage were also announced. In particular, the leaders of Ukrainian athletics – Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Iryna Herashchenko, Artur Felfner, Iryna Klymets, Oleksandr Pogorilko, Viktoria Tkachuk, as well as other athletes who continue to represent Ukraine with distinction on the international stage.

Vadym Guttsait also took part in the championship’s medal ceremony, congratulating the winners and medallists and presenting them with their well-deserved awards.
The championships were organised to a high standard, once again confirming that even in the midst of war, Ukraine is capable of successfully hosting large-scale national sporting events.
