The Ukrainian Olympic luge team was welcomed in Lviv

March 10th, 2026

On 9 March, a reception was held at Lviv’s central coach station for members of the Ukrainian national luge team. The athletes and coaching staff returned home following the conclusion of the XXV Winter Olympic Games 2026 in Milan-Cortina and the 2025/26 competitive season.

The event was attended by representatives of the Lviv Regional Branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, the region’s sporting community, military personnel, sports veterans, family members and supporters. Members of the ‘Dzherelo’ ensemble performed the song ‘Oi u luzi chervona kalyna’ — the very same piece that the Ukrainian delegation sang before the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Italy.

Ten athletes travelled to Lviv — Olena Stetskiv, Oleksandra Mokh, Anton Dukach, Olena Smaga, Nazarii Kachmar, Danylo Martsinovskyi, Bohdan Babura (Lviv region), Andrii Mandziy, Yulianna Tunytska, Ihor Hoi (Ternopil region) and four coaches.

Yurii Turyanskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Branch of the NOC of Ukraine, addressed the Olympians with words of welcome. In turn, the national team’s head coach, Taras Hartsula, thanked the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the opportunity to train and represent the country on the international stage.

It should be noted that, based on their performances at the XXV Winter Olympic Games, the luge team achieved the best result among all Ukrainian athletes at the XXV Olympic Games, finishing 6th in the team relay.
