The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has elected a new Athletes’ Commission for the period 2026–2030

Vadym Guttsait, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and Olympic fencing champion, joined the Assembly’s work. 

“I would like to thank you sincerely for your work as members of the Commission over the past four years. It has been a challenging period for Ukraine and Ukrainian sport, yet you have found the time and the means to contribute to our joint efforts and support initiatives that are important to athletes. Over the years, the Commission has raised pressing issues, represented the views of athletes, and taken part in meetings, events and international dialogue. 

“Thank you for your sense of responsibility, your commitment and your willingness to work together,” said Vadym Guttsait in his welcoming address. 

During the first part of the meeting, the Commission’s Chair, Heorhii Zantaraia, presented the results of its work for the period 2022–2026. The delegates approved the report and recognised the Commission’s work during the reporting period as satisfactory. 

Special recognition was given to the members of the NOC of Ukraine’s Athletes’ Commission from the previous term. For their conscientious and fruitful work, responsibility and active participation in the Commission’s activities, they were presented with letters of thanks by Vadym Guttsait, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.  

A formal awards ceremony was also held during the Assembly to honour the outstanding Ukrainian gymnast and two-time Olympic champion, Lilia Podkopaeva. Vadym Guttsait, President of the NOC of Ukraine, presented her with the Order of Princess Olga, 2nd Class — a state award of Ukraine, with which Lilia Podkopaeva was honoured by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for her significant personal contribution to the development of the Olympic movement in Ukraine, her many years of fruitful professional work, and to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

The main item on the agenda for the second part of the Assembly was the election of the new members of the NOC of Ukraine’s Athletes’ Commission for the period 2026–2030. A total of 27 candidates stood for election to the Commission: 21 representing summer sports and 6 representing winter sports. 

Following a secret ballot by the Assembly delegates, the following were elected to the new Athletes’ Commission of the NOC of Ukraine:

Summer sports:

• Olga Kharlan — fencing;
• Yulia Levchenko — athletics;
• Mykhailo Romanchuk — swimming;
• Oleksii Sereda — diving;
• Parviz Nasibov — Greco-Roman wrestling;
• Iryna Kolyadenko — freestyle wrestling;
• Marta Fedina — synchronised swimming;
• Olena Kostevych — shooting.

Winter sports:

• Oleksandr Abramenko — freestyle skiing;
• Vitalii Lialka — ice hockey.

Thus, the 10 members of the NOC of Ukraine’s Athletes’ Commission, elected by the Assembly, have been appointed. In accordance with the Regulations, its membership will also include a representative of the Ukrainian Olympians’ Association, members of the IOC Athletes’ Commission from Ukraine, members of the EOC Athletes’ Commission from Ukraine, a Paralympic athlete and five athletes nominated by the President of the NOC of Ukraine.

The Chair of the NOC of Ukraine’s Athletes’ Commission will be elected at the first meeting of the new composition from among the Commission members elected by the Assembly, by an absolute majority of votes. 

It should be noted that the new composition of the NOC of Ukraine Athletes’ Commission will serve for the 2026–2030 term, representing the interests of Ukrainian athletes and contributing to the development of the Olympic Movement in Ukraine!
