The latest meeting of the Executive Committee of the NOC of Ukraine took place: key decisions and agenda items

The meeting was opened by the President of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee (NOC), Olympic champion Vadym Guttsait, who, as is customary, reported on the activities of the Ukrainian NOC from the last meeting to the present day, highlighting the main achievements and significant events.  

“Our main task is to consistently defend the interests of Ukrainian sport and ensure its further development. We must act as a united team, strengthen the Ukrainian Olympic movement and utilise all possible legal and organisational mechanisms to protect Ukraine,” emphasised Vadym Guttsait.

The first item on the agenda was the convening and holding of the XLIII Report and Election General Assembly of the NOC of Ukraine. The President of the NOC of Ukraine, Vadym Guttsait, and the First Vice-President of the NOC of Ukraine, Oleksii Perevezentsev, presented the relevant information. Members of the Executive Committee discussed organisational matters and the next steps in preparing for the Assembly.

Particular attention was paid to the appeal against the decision of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee of 7 July 2026 regarding the temporary lifting of the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

Mykhailo Ilyashev, President of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation and managing partner of the law firm ‘Ilyashev & Partners’, briefed the Executive Committee on the NOC of Ukraine’s next steps. He recalled that the NOC of Ukraine had already lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland. The case is currently under consideration, with the relevant procedures for reviewing and processing the documents ongoing. The NOC of Ukraine continues to uphold its position and defend the interests of the Ukrainian Olympic movement through all available legal means.

During the meeting, Mykhailo Illiashev was honoured on the occasion of his 50th birthday. The President of the NOC of Ukraine, Vadym Guttsait, presented the honouree with an award for his significant contribution to the development and support of the Ukrainian Olympic Movement.

Lyudmyla Panchenko, Executive Director of the NOC of Ukraine, briefed the members of the Executive Committee on cooperation with organisations within the Ukrainian Olympic Movement. The discussion focused on collaboration with regional branches, as well as future areas of joint work.

Members of the Executive Committee also voted to appoint certain heads of the NOC of Ukraine’s separate structural units for a new term – 2026–2030. Hanna Rizatdinova, an Olympic bronze medallist in rhythmic gymnastics, was re-elected as head of the NOC of Ukraine’s branch in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The NOC of Ukraine’s branch in Sevastopol will be headed for a new term by Volodymyr Kovalov, Chair of the ‘NOC of Ukraine Branches’ Commission. 

In addition, the meeting’s participants approved the minutes of the previous Executive Committee meeting and the resolutions of the Executive Committee of the NOC of Ukraine, which were adopted by a poll.
