Olympic Ornament Competition

Regulations on the Olympic Ornament Contest

1. Objective

1.1. The main purpose of the Competition is to:

  • popularisation of Olympic sport, principles of cultural development of the nation and education of citizens on the ideas of the modern Olympic movement;
  • to determine the winner, whose work will be the basis for the development of authentic visualisation/identification (hereinafter referred to as the ornament), which will be used in the design of the uniform of the Ukrainian Olympic Team at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad 2020 .

2. Organisers

2.1. The Organiser of the Competition is the public organisation "National Olympic Committee of Ukraine" (hereinafter referred to as the Organiser). The organisational support of the Competition is entrusted to the Executive Directorate of the NOC of Ukraine and the NOC of Ukraine Commission "Olympic Education and Culture".

3. Participants

3.1. The Competition is open to citizens of Ukraine. Everyone, of any level of professionalism, without any age restrictions, may take part in the Competition, except for

a) employees of the Organiser and their family members;

b) owners and employees of advertising agencies and partners participating in the Contest and their family members.

4. Contest tasks

4.1 Provide graphic materials on the above topic in accordance with the terms of reference.

4.2 Provide a description of the ornament, what it symbolises and what message it carries, as it characterises the Ukrainian Olympic Team.

4.3. The ornament must be unique and not similar to the ornaments that have already been used in the design of the uniform of the Ukrainian Olympic Team. The ornament must reflect belonging to Ukrainian culture and traditions and have a connection with the ideology of Olympism.

4.4. The ornament must be accompanied by a description of the idea it represents and the means of its implementation.

5. The competition period

5.1. The Contest starts from the date of publication of the Contest conditions on the official website of the NOC of Ukraine (www.noc-ukr.org) and ends on 01 August 2018. All entries must be received no later than 25 July 2018 marked "Olympic Ornament Contest" to the address of the NOC of Ukraine (in one of the following ways)

  • by post: 39-41, Khoryva St., Kyiv, 04071;
  • directly handed over to the NOC of Ukraine: 39-41, Khoryva St., Kyiv, 04071;
  • by e-mail: office@noc-ukr.org.

5.2. The Organiser is not responsible for the late receipt of works from the participants, regardless of the circumstances that caused it.

6. Coverage of the Contest in the media

6.1 Informing the public about the terms of the Competition, its progress and winners is the responsibility of the Commission of the NOC of Ukraine "Olympic Education and Culture".

7. Determination of the Winner

7.1. The selection of the winner is entrusted to a special expert commission, the composition of which is determined by the Executive Committee of the NOC of Ukraine.

7.2. The winners are determined by a simple vote of all members of the special expert committee. Each of the members of the expert committee selects 3 (three) best works, assigning each of them points on a scale from 1 to 3 (the highest score is 3 points). Among the three works that have received the highest number of points, the expert committee determines the winner through discussion and open voting.

7.3. The Organiser shall notify all participants who have taken the first, second and third places of the results of the Contest based on the contact details provided by the participants.

7.4. The participant shall be considered the winner of the contest (i.e. the one who took one of the first three places) only after signing all the documents proposed by the Organizer concerning guarantees of his/her authorship in relation to the works (including liability for providing deliberately false data, including compensation for damages related to this), as well as documents according to which all rights to the works become the property of the Organizer in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.

8. Applications for participation in the competition

8.1. The work submitted by the author to the Contest must include

  • name and short biography (no more than 400 words);
  • title of the work;
  • type of work and technique of execution;
  • a brief description or content of the work;
  • a statement of the participant with the following text:

I am ___________, residing at _____________, passport, series No. _____, issued by _________, agree to the termsandconditions ofthe Olympic OrnamentContestand undertake to comply with them; date and signature.

8.2. In case of a minor, the commitment shall be filled in and signed by his/her legal representative.

8.3. All entries must be received by the NOC of Ukraine no later than the deadline specified in clause 5.1 of these Regulations.

9. Terms of Reference

9.1. The work must comply with the requirements of the legislation of Ukraine. The work must reflect the theme of the Contest.

9.2. The work should reflect the ideas and main tasks: involvement of Ukrainian citizens in the ideals and values of the Olympic Movement, popularisation of sports and healthy lifestyle, promotion of the image of the Olympic Team of Ukraine.

9.3. Characteristics and values to be reflected in the work: Olympism, sport, life, respect, friendship, unity, skill, traditions.

9.4. Entries made on physical media (paper) may be sent in the original to the Organiser's postal address or in a scanned version to the email address.

9.5. For works made in graphic editors:

- the size of graphic materials is at least 1500px on the long side, resolution 600ppi;

- 3D models must be drawn in a graphic with side views;

- acceptable formats for works: jpg, png, psd, pdf, ai;

- File size should not exceed 50 MB.

10. Awarding of prizes

10.1. The winners of the competition are awarded with valuable gifts from the NOC of Ukraine.

11. Other provisions

11.1. By their participation, the participants agree to these Regulations and decisions of the Competition organisers.

11.2. The decision of the expert committee from the NOC of Ukraine is final and not subject to appeal.

11.3. The Organiser is the only body that makes the final decision on the competition and the interpretation of these rules.

11.4. The awarding ceremony will be held as a solemn event. The date of the award ceremony is determined by the Organiser.

11.5. To obtain the documents necessary to receive valuable gifts, the winners (participants who took the first, second and third places) shall contact the Organizer's office (or another place specified by the Organizer) within the time limit set by the Organizer. The Organizer is not responsible for changes in the winners' schedule, postponements or cancellations of meetings.

11.6. Neither the Organizer nor its partners shall be liable in case the winner is unable to exercise his/her rights to a valuable gift, in case he/she does not have the documents necessary for exercising his/her rights, in case of employment at another place, in case of conflicts with public authorities, in case of non-compliance with the instructions of the Organizer (partner/partners of the Organizer), etc.

11.7. In case any of the participants who took the first place in the contest violates the terms of the contest (or is not ready to fully or partially comply with the terms of these Rules), and as a result, the results of the contest will need to be amended, the winner in this case, based on the data of the general list of the best works, is the next participant on this list.

11.8. The Winner (or his/her legal representative) shall sign all the documents provided by the Organiser, including the list of obligations and the consent to advertising, at the Organiser's request.

11.9. The Winner under the age of 18 may receive a valuable gift only through his/her legal representative. A minor winner may exercise his/her rights to a valuable gift only with the written consent of his/her legal representatives.
